Nur die Berge begegnen sich nie (Only the Mountains Never Meet One Another) compiles the most important works of Dominik Zietlow (*1988). Proceeding from real moments, he develops performative works that are documentary in nature and yet blur the boundaries between reality and fiction. In his works, he explores how we perceive space, how we occupy it and position ourselves within it somewhere between the intimate and the public sphere. Listening is a central motif in Zietlow’s works – as a radical gesture, as method, and as a connecting element between the individual and the social fabric. The title already gives us a hint: encounter is not something to be taken for granted, but it is instead a deliberate movement towards one another, borne by attention, time and the willingness to communicate with others. Framed by an experimental series of images, the publication unfolds a multilayered dialogue between artworks and texts.
