The collaboration between Roger Moos, Roman Giuliani and Christian Herrmann began in 1995 in the form of small-scale conversions. Building on their training at the Technikum Winterthur (now the School of Engineering at the ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences), the architects used their building knowledge and architectural understanding to preserve the substance of existing industrial buildings and to develop them further for new uses. The documentation of 25 years of construction activity serves as a guideline for employees and as a stimulus for thought and discussion for professional colleagues, authorities and developers in dealing with the subject of continued building.
For the publication, the architects' collective took a critical look back at its work to date and summarised recurring themes and characteristics of its working methods in the form of five formulas. Using ten selected projects as a basis, which are photographed in detail and documented with plans, the specific working methods of the collective are laid bare.
