The photo book Natural Forms by Marta Pohlmann-Kryszkiewicz presents objects and fragments of waste. It is a photographic appropriation and condensation of structures and stratifications. The book makes visible a topography of consumer legacies that are placed in relation to nature. In the macroscopic recording of change processes, narrative shifts emerge and show what remains – raw material of new artificial landscapes, unknown skeletons and insect-like formations.
Interrupted by monochrome pages featuring enlarged sections of damaged surfaces, the book is divided into primary colours as a sequence of blue, red and yellow and an additional ordering colour of green. Little by little, meaningful connections between the colours in the objects are triggered for the viewer and reader.
In dialogue with the images, the lyricist and philosopher Italo Testa writes about the sticky bitumen of the metropolis, opening up a stimulating conversation with the subject matter.
