This publication offers a review of the activity of the Berlin project space zwanzigquadratmeter (zqm) over a period of more than ten years. It has the characteristics of a catalogue and yet should be understood entirely as an artist’s book – as an independent work. It is an invitation from the founder and artistic director of the project space Eric Emery to the graphic designer Julie Joliat. She was given carte blanche to develop a new, vibrant graphic work from the photographic documentation of the numerous exhibitions. In doing so, she managed to transfer the concept of the space, i.e. to invite artists to develop works on-site and for the site: This resulted in an in situ publication.

about square also contains theoretical contributions on the independent Berlin art scene and curatorial practices as tested in the project space.
