The illustrated book was published to coincide with the exhibition of the same name curated by the artist Clare Goodwin at the Kunstmuseum Olten in 2015.
Clare Goodwin's Museum des Unerwünschten (Museum of the Unwanted) is about things left lying around: mostly worthless things that, despite being no longer used, are nevertheless preserves of past life and, as Walter Benjamin puts it, "confront us with the rusted soul". Her project focuses on the practice of artists who use such objects for their creative activity and incorporate them into their aesthetic work.
This book was printed on the back of the wastepaper from the publication Invent the Future with Elements of the Past, a book project by the Cabaret Voltaire in cooperation with the STEO Foundation. The use of these multiple overprinted and different maculature sheets makes each book unique.
