This comprehensive monograph on Coghuf is the first foray into the complete works of the Basel artist, who died in 1976. The publication is richly illustrated, informed by art historical texts while also being accessibly written.
Born Ernst Stocker in Basel (*1905 Basel, ✝︎1976 Muriaux), Coghuf completed his artistic training in Paris. Coghuf spent most of his life in the Franches-Montagnes, in Muriaux (JU). He painted his adopted homeland until he discovered how to transcend it. Many art lovers first got to know the Jura landscape through his art. His political commitment against a weapons site saw him campaiging for the preservation of this natural landscape and contributing to its conservation. Coghuf was at home in diverse genres and art forms. His glass paintings can be admired in churches in Switzerland and at the University of St.Gallen.
