The book project CHR.K. – Journal um eine Erwartung (CHR.K. – Journal of an Expectation) documents daily artistic perception in a very personal way – a sensual and Dadaistic montage. It contains the facsimiled original artist's book by Jso Maeder, created between 1995 and 2018. He begins with daily recorded text fragments, trains of thought and babbles of voices (in other words: "the cinema inside the artist’s head") and translates these into an artistic language, which he reinterprets and compiles in word and image. Handwritten text, (ink) drawings and pasted images combine to create a dense conglomeration of impressions and snatches.
In terms of form, the work veers towards the aesthetics of picture stories and comic strips. Despite this obvious reference, however, it does not follow a chronological plot with corresponding pictorial representations, but rather its own logic. The text passages it contains were initially created for a filmic work. This then became a book work from the year 2000 onwards. The resulting visual diary is continued and supplemented, as it were, by the texts of Sabine Folie, Johannes Binotto and Frank M. Raddatz – in the form of a glossary, an approach at a distance and a soliloquy.
